Academic Advisor, UAE

27000AED (£6000 / $7400) per mth tax free) + medical, return flights, visa

m2r Education require Academic Advisors to support government schools across the UAE (including the Emirate of Abu Dhabi). Aug ’20 starts.

The role is to is to support the Principal, Lead Teachers and Teachers, through professional leadership and management of the teaching and learning strategy. You will be responsible for a number of schools within a defined ‘cluster’. A driving licnece is therefore essential.

All roles are located in the Emirates of Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al-Khaimah, Fujairah and Ajman so you must be flexible with location. (Please note – Abu Dhabi is the largest Emirate and includes the Western Region. Roles exist across the Emirate incl Al Ain. There are very few roles in Abu Dhabi city itself.)


Experience Required:

  • 3 years relevant leadership experience within a secondary school
  • Highly developed management skills
  • Sound problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use Information Technology in the class room such as Smart board, ppt. MS Word, Spreadsheets and Database
  • Ability to utilize and maximize web-based learning environments


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher education institution, ideal Master’s qualifed.
  • A teaching qualification is an advantage
  • Currently in the UAE with a valid visit visa (no exceptions)


  • 27000AED (£6000 / $7400 ) tax free per month

  • End of contract flights for self and family

  • Holidays are as per academic calendar of the school where you will be teaching
  • End of service benefit of one month’s basic salary for each complete year of continuous service (pro rata where required)
  • 2yr contract, renewable

Aug ’20 onwards start dates.

Are you qualified to teach in a UK, US or IB Curriculum School?

The Majority of vacancies advertised on require you to have either a US teachers license or UK qualified teacher status (QTS). Different types of International Schools look for specific qualifications depending on the curriculum they offer, UK Schools require QTS,  US Schools will need a US teachers licence and IB Schools will be mainly looking for teachers with a teaching qualification from one of the countries listed below or South Africa.

If you qualified in the UK your qualification (BEds, PGCEs, GTP,) will include training for QTS. Teachers who have qualified  from the European Economic Area, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA, can apply for QTS here… It may take up to 4 months to process your application. If you’re successful, you’ll be awarded QTS or partial QTS. You won’t need further training and will be exempt from having to serve a statutory induction period. 

Teachers who do not hold a US teacher license or QTS and who qualified in countries not listed above will normally need to complete an accredited training programme to achieve QTS. If you are interested in teaching internationally more details of how you can qualify are available here…
