IB PYP Early Years Teacher

This is a new school, opening for the first time in September 2020, They will be operating Early Years 1 to Grade 3, adding grades 4 and 5 in the second year the school will be an IB Continuum School and is already an IB PYP Candidate School . The Board consists of international experts in IB education. They plan to maintain small class sizes

Uptown International School will use inquiry-based learning from Early Years 1 (3 year olds) through Grade 12. The school intends to apply for International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) Candidacy at the earliest opportunity as this is the most internationally recognised and successful inquiry-based learning programme. Inquiry-based learning is a mode of teaching and learning which is student-centred and encourages students to:

  • Build new knowledge and schools based on what they already know and can do
  • Be curious and to ask questions
  • Discover how to answer many of their own questions through asking good questions, reading, experimenting
  • Be aware that they are learning and that subjects are interconnected
  • Reflect on their learning so that they can see their own progress and be proud of that

How to Apply



  • A bachelors Degree in Early Years or Primary Education
  • Plus a minimum of 3 years teaching experience
  • In addition you will need a teaching license or PGCE or equivalents and IB PYP experience.
  • There are no age restrictions for work and residency permits in Egypt

    Are you qualified to teach in a UK, US or IB Curriculum School?

    The Majority of vacancies advertised on require you to have either a US teachers license or UK qualified teacher status (QTS). Different types of International Schools look for specific qualifications depending on the curriculum they offer, UK Schools require QTS,  US Schools will need a US teachers licence and IB Schools will be mainly looking for teachers with a teaching qualification from one of the countries listed below or South Africa.

    If you qualified in the UK your qualification (BEds, PGCEs, GTP,) will include training for QTS. Teachers who have qualified  from the European Economic Area, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA, can apply for QTS here… It may take up to 4 months to process your application. If you’re successful, you’ll be awarded QTS or partial QTS. You won’t need further training and will be exempt from having to serve a statutory induction period. 

    Teachers who do not hold a US teacher license or QTS and who qualified in countries not listed above will normally need to complete an accredited training programme to achieve QTS. If you are interested in teaching internationally more details of how you can qualify are available here…
