MYP English Teacher

The British International School of Stavanger, Gausel is a world International Baccalaureate School. We are currently recruiting for a talented and inspirational Middle Years Programme teacher for a temporary position. The position will start 1st August 2020 and continue until 30th June 2021.
You will be working as part of a highly motivated and collaborative team to offer a balanced curriculum that promotes the acquisition of key skills and behaviours through inquiry-based learning. We work hard to create a very special learning experience for our students by employing inspirational teachers who respect every child and believe that whatever background or prior learning the child has, every child has the capacity to excel.

The post is for BISS Gausel, Gauselbakken 107, 4032 Gausel, Stavanger

Requirements:-

– An approved teaching qualification (IB curriculum experience is an advantage)
– Experience teaching Secondary students

Due to the ongoing Covid 19 difficulties, current immigration requirements are restricting applications to  EEA/EU nationals.

  • Have strong interpersonal skills to engage, motivate and support children, staff and parents

  • Be comfortable using ICT to support and enhance learning within the classroom
  • Have the interpersonal skills needed to work successfully within teams
  • Have a collaborative and consultative approach when working in teams

Are you qualified to teach in a UK, US or IB Curriculum School?

The Majority of vacancies advertised on www.itrcjobs.com require you to have either a US teachers license or UK qualified teacher status (QTS). Different types of International Schools look for specific qualifications depending on the curriculum they offer, UK Schools require QTS,  US Schools will need a US teachers licence and IB Schools will be mainly looking for teachers with a teaching qualification from one of the countries listed below or South Africa.

If you qualified in the UK your qualification (BEds, PGCEs, GTP,) will include training for QTS. Teachers who have qualified  from the European Economic Area, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA, can apply for QTS here… It may take up to 4 months to process your application. If you’re successful, you’ll be awarded QTS or partial QTS. You won’t need further training and will be exempt from having to serve a statutory induction period. 

Teachers who do not hold a US teacher license or QTS and who qualified in countries not listed above will normally need to complete an accredited training programme to achieve QTS. If you are interested in teaching internationally more details of how you can qualify are available here…
