Science Teacher (Fresh Grad / Max 1yr exp), UAE

FROM 16000AED (£36k per yr tax free) + medical, return flights, visa (Salary increases every yr for 1st 3 yrs)

m2r Education require freshly graduated / 1yr max exp Science Teachers to teach in government schools across the UAE. Aug ’20 starts.

Science Graduate Teachers are required to undertake a programme of learning which will equip them with the necessary competences to ensure the high quality of learning and teaching required. The programme consists of classroom taught modules, online self-study and in-classroom review and assessment. Successful engagement with the programme, including meeting all the assessment requirements is required to progress from graduate to full licensed teacher status.

All teaching roles are located in the Emirates of Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al-Khaimah, Fujairah and Ajman so you must be flexible with location. (Please note – Abu Dhabi is the largest Emirate and includes the Western Region. Roles exist across the Emirate incl Al Ain. There are very few roles in Abu Dhabi city itself.)

Science Graduate Teachers are required to:

  • Work extra hours to provide extra-curricular activities
  • Travel as required to events, training and provide cover away from their school
  • Be smart and present a positive image of themselves and the Science Department at all times

Science Graduate Teachers should be able to:

  • Integrate with colleagues from different cultures
  • Perform all aspects of their role with an understanding of the wider strategy
  • Plan effectively and manage their workload
  • Operate in arduous weather conditions (hot)
  • Gain the confidence and respect of Emirati personnel at all levels

Science Graduate Teachers should possess:

  • Maturity, intelligence, energy and a good sense of humour

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physics / Chemistry / Biology OR an engineering discpline
  • Excellent oral and written English is essential.

  • 3 Month Teacher Training Program

  • Year 1 – £36k per annum (16,000AED per month)
  • Year 2 – £42k per annum (18,000 AED per month)
  • Year 3 – £48k per annum (21,000AED per month)

  • Holidays are as per academic calendar of the school where you will be teaching
  • End of service benefit of one month’s basic salary for each complete year of continuous service (pro rata where required)

Are you qualified to teach in a UK, US or IB Curriculum School?

The Majority of vacancies advertised on www.itrcjobs.com require you to have either a US teachers license or UK qualified teacher status (QTS). Different types of International Schools look for specific qualifications depending on the curriculum they offer, UK Schools require QTS,  US Schools will need a US teachers licence and IB Schools will be mainly looking for teachers with a teaching qualification from one of the countries listed below or South Africa.

If you qualified in the UK your qualification (BEds, PGCEs, GTP,) will include training for QTS. Teachers who have qualified  from the European Economic Area, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the USA, can apply for QTS here… It may take up to 4 months to process your application. If you’re successful, you’ll be awarded QTS or partial QTS. You won’t need further training and will be exempt from having to serve a statutory induction period. 

Teachers who do not hold a US teacher license or QTS and who qualified in countries not listed above will normally need to complete an accredited training programme to achieve QTS. If you are interested in teaching internationally more details of how you can qualify are available here…
